So there’s a lot of artists and musicians that create uberunique work and inspire me to do what I do, but it’s rare that something amazes me as much as A] the new Twisted Wires track on the Italians Do It Better label and B] the Nathan Lee Pickett show in the project room at Ad Hoc Art. These folks are keeping it so real.
The reverberating, harmonic, underwater sound and the rhythm in this track are so fluid, so emotional. If you love it as much as I do, they’re playing at Le Poisson Rouge on Saturday with Glass Candy, Nite Jewel, and Mike Simonetti.

As for Pickett’s show, “Breathe Like You Mean It”…. it’s a bunch of these layered, embroidered, supercolorful illustrationy cut-outs, some hanging from the ceiling. Characters emerge from works so detailed I want to think they were lasercut… stellar. Check it out in Bushwickland, Brooklyn.
